While there are no details yet regarding the cast, director, or specific plot, the secured funding and filming location suggest that this movie is legitimate. The 2021 reboot, directed by Johannes Roberts, had a lukewarm critical response and grossed $42 million against a $25 million budget, though it’s possible it performed better on VOD due to pandemic challenges. The Resident Evil franchise has historically been successful, raking in a whopping $1.27 billion overall, which indicates that there’s still a market for it.
