That’s right everybody, Scream 7 is in development. But Radio Silence is not involved.
Christopher Landon, the director of popular horror films like Freaky and Happy Death Day, will
instead be in charge of directing Scream 7. The group Radio Silence, which also includes
producer Chad Villella, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, and Tyler Gillett will continue to serve as the film's
executive producers.
With Scream 7, the Scream series' third director change—a surprisingly small number for such
a long-running slasher franchise—comes to an end. The first four films, which were released
between 1996 and 2011, were directed by the original Wes Craven. The following two films
were directed by Gillett and Bettinelli-Olpin. Landon's presence should nevertheless keep
Scream on course, even though it has allowed the series to remain mostly consistent in terms of
continuity and audience reception.
Some of his movies are: Happy Death Day, Freaky, We Have a Ghost (Netflix), Paranormal
Activity: The Marked Ones. He demonstrated his familiarity with the fundamental aspects of the
slasher genre by fusing elements of the traditional slasher with fresh sci-fi subgenres. In these
films, he also demonstrates his mastery of the comic and horror tones that must be skillfully
mixed in order for a Scream movie to succeed.
Along with writing and directing Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, Landon also penned the
second, third, fourth, and seventh films in the Paranormal Activity franchise. He obviously
comes into Woodsboro with a very respectable horror background, and his earlier work shows
that he has the appropriate sensitivities for the Scream series.
Although Scream 7's writers have not yet been announced, Melissa Barrera and Mason
Gooding are anticipated to return, according to THR.
However, Hollywood productions have been put on hold due to the ongoing WGA and SAG-
AFTRA strikes, so it might take some time before Scream VII actually begins.
And if this is the last movie in the Scream franchise, it better be EPIC!
